If it works on a colleague s board the pen is not defective. Once the computer restarts and you have logged back in and it s ready to use try plugging the usb cables back into your computer. A faulty nib can prevent a promethean pen from functioning. Unplug all usb cables from your computer and restart your computer.

Just wanted to clarify about lab. It detects the board as an activboard v3 75 build 0 serial number 0b14d05a. Promethean s activpen is battery free designed to write just like a pen and act just like a mouse. The ir sensor is a black rectangle near the lens.

The pc is connected to the board using a usb to serial adaptor. If it still doesn t work try a different known good activpen. Make sure the infrared ir sensor on the interactive projector is not damaged or blocked. It is used to communicate with the pen.

If the pen works the problem exists with the previous pen and you may need to replace it. Put the tip back in the pen and try it on the activboard again. The promethean proactiv panel connected to a windows 7 pc has stopped reacting to the pen. First determine if the pen will work on another board. Make sure smart product drivers 11 or later is installed and currently running on the connected computer. If defective turn it in to your building tech to determine if it is under warranty. Remove the nib and check it on another activpen.

The pc is running windows 7 pro 64 bit and has activdriver x64 v5 9 installed. If the above troubleshooting doesn t work check the pin nib. You do need to use the promethean pen to select different tools etc in notebook though.
